The 4 hour Drug & Alcohol Class, also known as "TLSAE" (Traffic Law & Substance Abuse Education), is the first step for first time drivers to obtain their Learner's Permit/Driver's License. It is a mandatory requirement in the state of Florida.

The 4 hour "BDI" (Basic Driver Improvement) ticket class may be elected (once a year/five times in a lifetime) to keep the points off your license, to satisfy a court order or to fulfill a DHSMV requirement - "TCAC" (Traffic Collision Avoidance Course), red light, passing a stopped school bus, reckless, etc., or as an Employer requirement.
The online learner's permit test is for students under the age of 18.
The 8 hour Aggressive or 8 hour "DDS" Defensive Driver (Intermediate Driver Improvement) Courses are normally court ordered but can be taken by anyone or as a recommendation by your employer or legal counsel.
The "SNAP" (Safe New Attitude Program) course is often court ordered for the youthful offender, but can be taken by anyone. New drivers, especially, can benefit from the safe driver strategies.
